Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often.

What is the difference between an AC and a DC charging station?

Alternating current (AC) — the station delivers power straight from the grid and the converter sits inside the vehicle. Such stations are usually up to 22 kW and a full charge takes several hours. They suit places where a car stands for a long time: car parks, hotels, offices.

Direct current (DC) — the converter is built into the station, so the power is many times higher. Foton DC delivers up to 180 kW and charging takes tens of minutes. These stations belong on highways, at shopping centres and service stations.

How long does it take to charge an electric vehicle?

It depends on the station power, the battery capacity and its current state of charge. From a Nova AC station (up to 22 kW) a full charge takes several hours. From Foton DC (up to 180 kW) — tens of minutes to 80 %. The last few per cent always go slower: that is how a battery behaves.

How much power does a charging station need?

The Nova AC station is rated up to 22 kW. Foton DC goes up to 180 kW and needs a dedicated connection with reserve capacity.

The exact load is calculated per site: it depends on how many stations you install and how many vehicles charge at the same time. During the audit we check the existing capacity and tell you whether it is enough.

Which connector does my electric vehicle need?

Three standards are common in Kazakhstan. Type 2 — the European one for alternating current. CCS Type2 — the same for direct current. GBT DC — the Chinese fast charging standard.

Nova AC uses Type 2 connectors, Foton DC uses CCS Type2 and GBT DC. Between them they cover both European and Chinese models, which make up most of the vehicles on the road here.

How does the installation work?

Five stages: site survey and audit of the electrical capacity, design, installation, commissioning and launch. After launch the station connects to the Adele Cloud platform and appears in the driver app.

Timing depends on the site. If the existing capacity is sufficient, installation takes a few days. If the capacity has to be increased, the process is longer and runs alongside the design work.

What is OCPP and why does it matter?

It is an international communication protocol between a charging station and the management platform. If a station supports it, the station can connect to any compatible system, not only to the manufacturer's own.

ADELE ENERGY stations support OCPP. That means equipment from different makers can be combined into one network and managed from a single dashboard.

How does a driver pay for charging?

Through the Adele Cloud app: the driver sees stations on the map, starts a session and pays by card. No cash and no cashier.

For the site owner this means revenue is calculated automatically and every transaction is visible in the dashboard.

How much does a charging station cost?

The price depends on the station type, its power and configuration. Installation and grid connection are counted separately — their cost is determined by the site.

We prepare an estimate for a specific task: tell us where you plan to install the station and how many vehicles should charge at the same time.
